How to find your Facebook Business Manager ID (and when you need it)
By Nick Georgalos · 9 min read · 2026-10-23
Your Facebook Business Manager ID is the 15- to 16-digit number that identifies your Meta Business Suite account as a whole, one level above your ad accounts, pages, and pixels. Find it at Business Settings > Business Info on business.facebook.com, or read it directly from the URL after business_id= in your browser bar. It is not the same as your ad account ID or page ID. You need it when granting a partner agency access in Business Settings, when contacting Meta support about a restriction, and sometimes when connecting CRM or lead management tools directly to Meta Business Suite.
Someone at an agency or a CRM tool asked for your Business Manager ID, and now you're staring at four different 15-digit numbers inside Meta trying to figure out which one they want. Fair question. The Business Manager ID, ad account ID, page ID, and pixel ID all look identical from the outside, and Meta's interface spreads them across several settings screens without much labeling.
This covers what each ID type is, exactly where to find your Business Manager ID, and the situations where final expense agents actually need it.
What a Business Manager ID is, and what it is not
Your Business Manager ID is a 15- to 16-digit number that identifies your Meta Business Suite account as a whole. It sits above everything else: your ad accounts, Facebook pages, pixels, and users all live inside it. If you run FE ads through a Business Suite login, one Business Manager ID covers all of that. It is not an ad account ID, a page ID, or a pixel ID, even though all four are long numbers that look the same at a glance.
The naming is confusing because Meta rebranded Business Manager to Meta Business Suite a few years ago but the URL and documentation still use both terms. The settings area at business.facebook.com still says Business Manager in the navigation. The actual ID appears in spots that look visually identical to your ad account ID, which is why agents mix them up constantly.
Here is a quick reference:
| ID type | Where to find it | What it identifies |
|---|---|---|
| Business Manager ID | Business Settings > Business Info | Your entire Business Suite account (the container) |
| Ad account ID | Ads Manager > top-left account dropdown | One ad account inside Business Manager |
| Facebook Page ID | Your Page > About section | A single Facebook Page |
| Meta Pixel ID | Events Manager > Data Sources | One tracking pixel |
When an agency or vendor asks for your Business Manager ID, they want the top-level number from Business Settings, not the others.
How to find your Business Manager ID
Log in to business.facebook.com, open Business Settings, and click Business Info in the left navigation. Your Business Manager ID appears at the top of that page, directly below your business name. You can also read it from the browser address bar while inside Business Settings: the URL typically shows something like /settings/?business_id=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX, and that long number is your Business Manager ID.
Step by step via Business Settings:
- Go to business.facebook.com and log in.
- Click the gear icon in the lower-left sidebar to open Settings.
- In the left navigation, click Business Info (it may be under a General section).
- Your Business Manager ID is shown at the top of the page, below your business name. It is a long number, typically 15 or 16 digits.
Step by step via the URL:
- Log in to business.facebook.com.
- Look at the browser address bar. If it shows business_id=XXXXXXXXXX somewhere in the URL, that number is your Business Manager ID.
- If the URL does not include a business_id parameter, use the Business Settings route above.
Meta redesigns this interface regularly, so the exact menu labels may have shifted. If you cannot find Business Info in the left nav, use the search box at the top of Business Settings and type Business Info or Business ID. It surfaces the right screen immediately.
When FE agents actually need this number
Most agents run Facebook ads for months without ever needing to look up their Business Manager ID. But when you do need it, you usually need it right away: when adding an ad management partner, when filing an appeal after a Meta restriction, or when connecting certain CRM and lead management tools. Save it somewhere you can find in 30 seconds.
Adding a partner agency to your ad account
This is the most common reason FE agents need their Business Manager ID. When you work with an ad management service, they get added as a Business Manager partner, not as a personal user with your login. Either you can add them using their Business Manager ID, or they can send a request using yours. Either way, no one exchanges passwords.
To add a partner using their Business Manager ID:
- In Business Settings, click Partners in the left navigation.
- Click Add, then choose Give a partner access to your assets.
- Enter the partner's Business Manager ID (they should provide this to you).
- Select which ad accounts and pages they should be able to access.
- Set the permission level: standard access for normal campaign management, full control only if they need to create new ad accounts on your behalf.
- Submit. The partner will see the request on their end and confirm.
FexAds works this way. We give you our Business Manager ID, you add us as a partner in your Business Settings, and we manage campaigns inside your account. Your login, your data, and your relationship with Meta stay yours.
Contacting Meta support about a restriction
When an ad account gets disabled or a page gets flagged, Meta support almost always asks for both your Business Manager ID and your ad account ID. Having both ready cuts the back-and-forth significantly. Store them together in a note in your CRM or phone, labeled clearly so you can find them under pressure. The full process for handling a restricted account is in the Meta account restriction recovery playbook, but the short version is: include the Business Manager ID in every appeal submission, not just the ad account ID.
Connecting lead management and CRM tools
Most CRM integrations with Facebook lead forms use your ad account ID or page ID for the connection, not your Business Manager ID. GoHighLevel, Zapier, and similar tools connect at that level. The GoHighLevel to Facebook lead forms integration guide covers which IDs each connection step requires. The Business Manager ID tends to come up only when you connect through Meta's official Business Suite integration directly, rather than through a standard OAuth flow.
Sharing your Business Manager ID is safe
Your Business Manager ID is a public identifier, not a credential. Giving it to an agency or tool does not grant any access by itself. The most it allows is for someone to send you a partner request inside Business Settings, which you still have to approve manually, with specific permission choices you control. They cannot see your campaigns, touch your budget, or log into anything.
Your login password is a different matter entirely. Never give an agency or vendor your personal Facebook credentials or the admin login to your Business Suite. A legitimate partner will always use the Business Manager partner flow. If a vendor is asking for your password to manage your ads, stop there.
This distinction matters for account safety. Agents who share logins are exposed to account issues caused by someone else's actions inside their account, which is one of the patterns covered in the guide on staying compliant and avoiding account bans.
Running ads from a personal ad account instead of Business Manager
Some FE agents run ads directly from a personal ad account tied to their personal Facebook profile, especially if they started before learning about Business Manager. It works until it does not. If your personal profile gets flagged for any reason, a friend's post in a shared group, a login from an unusual location, a name mismatch, your ad access can disappear with it.
A Business Manager account separates your business operations from your personal profile. The two can be restricted independently. For an FE agent who depends on Facebook ads as a primary lead source, that separation is worth 15 minutes.
The full Meta Business Manager setup guide covers the whole process from scratch. If you already have a running personal ad account and want to move it into Business Manager without losing campaign history:
- Create a Business Suite account at business.facebook.com if you do not have one yet.
- In Business Settings, go to Ad Accounts, click Add, and choose Claim an existing ad account.
- Enter your personal ad account ID from Ads Manager.
- Move your Facebook Page in as well: Business Settings > Pages > Add > Add a Page.
Pixel data, campaign history, and audiences all carry over. Nothing resets. You are adding a management layer on top, not rebuilding from zero.
What to do if you have two Business Managers by accident
Meta shows a Create Account prompt in spots where agents mean to click Log In, which is how most agents end up with a second empty Business Manager. It is harmless but confusing when you need to identify the right ID to give someone.
Go to business.facebook.com and look at the account switcher in the upper-left corner. Each Business Manager listed is a separate account with its own ID. Your active one is the Business Manager that contains your ad accounts. Check Business Settings > Ad Accounts to confirm. If the other Business Manager is empty, you can request deletion through Meta support, though they may not process it immediately.
The main thing is knowing which one is live. Use the Business Manager ID from the account that holds your active ad accounts for everything: partner invitations, support requests, tool integrations.
Common questions
My Business Manager ID and my ad account ID are both 16 digits. How do I keep them straight? Save both in one place with clear labels: BM ID and Ad Account ID next to their numbers. In Ads Manager, the account dropdown at the top left shows your ad account ID next to the account name. Your Business Manager ID only appears at Business Settings > Business Info or in the business.facebook.com URL. In Meta's API, ad account IDs have an act_ prefix (like act_1234567890), which makes them easy to tell apart programmatically even though the Ads Manager UI strips it.
I added a partner agency in Business Settings but they say they still can't access my ads. Adding a partner in the Partners section creates the relationship but does not automatically assign them to specific assets. You also need to go to Business Settings > Ad Accounts, open your ad account, and add the partner there with a permission level. Same for your Facebook Page if they need it. Both steps are required.
Can I transfer ownership of a Business Manager to a different profile? Yes. Add the new owner as an admin in Business Settings and wait for them to accept. Once they are in, remove the original admin. Ad accounts, pages, and pixels all stay in the same Business Manager with the same IDs. Nothing rebuilds.
